Florian Köfler was born in Tyrol and completed instrumental studies with a major in tuba at the Tyrolean State Conservatory while attending the Music High School in Innsbruck. He gained his first experiences in opera as an orchestra substitute at the Tyrolean State Theatre in Innsbruck. He then studied solo singing at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and worked internationally as an opera soloist. He was a member of the Young Ensemble at the Theater an der Wien, further Engagements led him to the Theater Regensburg, the Handel Festival in Halle, and the Cologne Opera. He also appeared in concert at the Herkulessaal in Munich, the Musikverein in Vienna, and the Gulbenkian in Lisbon. His repertoire included roles such as Sarastro in The Magic Flute, Gremin in Eugene Onegin, Arkel in Pelléas et Mélisande, and Melisso in Alcina.

Influential artistic figures during this time included René Jacobs, Michael Boder, Thomas Guggeis, Oksana Lyniv, and Lawrence Foster, as well as Tatjana Gürbaca, Keith Warner, Lotte de Beer, and Calixto Bieito.

With the 2020/21 season, he shifted his focus behind the stage, first becoming an opera dramaturge and, from 2022, opera manager at the Staatstheater Karlsruhe. He oversaw new productions of SalomeDon Pasquale,  WozzeckDie schweigsame FrauRusalka, and Tannhäuser as dramaturge and production manager and collaborated with Mariame Clément, Maxim Didenko, Vera Nemirova, Katharina Thoma, Martin G. Berger, Valentin Schwarz, Sláva Daubnerová, Julia Burbach, and Axel Köhler. Alongside his work at the Staatstheater, he completed the Opera Management Course of Opera Europa, continued his education in cultural management at the PH Ludwigsburg, and completed the Theatre Management program of the Deutscher Bühnenverein at LMU Munich.

Starting with the 2024/25 season, he serves as Director of Artistic Planning & Production at the Royal Opera House La Monnaie / De Munt in Brussels. In this role, he is responsible for shaping the artistic program and casting in close collaboration with General Director Christina Scheppelmann, as well as managing the artistic budget and negotiating with creative teams and performing artists.
