Aida

Opera by G.Verdi.

The winner of the Klaudia Taev Competition (2013) Jomantė Šležaitė in the title role and the prizewinner of the competition (2005) Angelina Shvachka as Amneris.

The main characters in this opera are two princesses, Aida and Amneris, who fight for the love of one and the same man – Radames. Sooner or later all three face a choice: whether to stay true to their homeland or choose love.
Verdi lays a colorful palette of human relationships before us – faith, love, hatred, manipulation, hope(lessness) and betrayal. It turns out that the opera, which is considered one of the most spectacular ever written, is paradoxically rather constrained. As such, the small building of the Vanemuine with its intimate atmosphere seems an excellent setting for Aida.

Premiered on 20 May 2015 in the Vanemuine Theatre, Tartu, Estonia
