Participants will perform two pieces with piano accompaniment, namely:

  • one relatively short 18th-century aria (from Bach to Mozart inclusive) chosen by the contestant. The piece may not be one of the arias designated for any of the next rounds
  • one relatively short opera or operetta aria (also arietta, arioso, couplets, etc.)
