Maria Guleghina (soprano), Ivari Ilja (piano)

Maria Guleghina, performing in Estonia for the first time, is one of the world’s most acclaimed dramatic sopranos, who has been greeted with standing ovations by audiences on the stages of many leading opera houses. Her title roles in Puccini’s operas “Tosca” and “Turandot” have been particularly highly praised. Enrico Stinchelli has called Guleghina “the most remarkable dramatic soprano of her generation” in his book “Greatest Stars of the Opera”. Maria Guleghina and pianist Ivari Ilja are also connected by previous musical collaboration. It is a great joy and honor to present these outstanding interpreters to the Estonian audience.
Pianist Ivari Ilja is highly regarded both as a soloist and as an excellent ensemble musician. Over the years, he has collaborated with many renowned orchestras and conductors and has been a stage partner to several international opera stars. Ilja has participated in juries of various international piano competitions and actively contributes to musical life as a piano professor. He is the rector of the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre and president of the Estonian Music Council.
