The Pärnu Opera Music Festival - PromFest is a festival for the friends of opera music. The program of the festival concentrates mostly to young singers and audience and consists of 4 different parts: the Klaudia Taev Competition for opera singers, the opera-production, the master-class and concerts.
Festival is organized by the PromFest NGO with Estonian National Opera, Pärnu theatre Endla.
The artistic Director of Pärnu Opera Music Festival is conductor Erki Pehk.

The opera-production is a rarely performed Italian opera, one of G. Verdi’s early works - “Attila”. Beloved actor and director Üllar Saaremäe will direct the production. .
The tradition is that the laureates of previous Klaudia Taev Competition sing the leading parts. The title role of "Attila" is sung by young Belorussian bass Anatoli Siuko, the winner of the competition 2009.

The history of the festival goes back to 1996 when the Klaudia Taev Competition for Young Opera Singers first took place.
Klaudia Taev Competition, the only international competition for singers in Estonia, is the central event of the festival. The laureates of the competition will be in the cast of the festival's opera-project; winners will get the main roles.
The second and third round are open to all listeners.

Ammende Villa
Traditional Klaudia Taev memorial concert where the former students and the students of the students of Klaudia Taev perform.
Klaudia Taev (1906-1985) was a legendary singing teacher in Pärnu. Though a great singing career was predicted for Taev, it remained short due to a stroke of fate - after an illness she lost her voice and dedicated her life to teaching others.

Ingrid Kremling, one of the most valued singing pedagogues in Germany and a jury member of the Klaudia Taev Competition is giving her third masterclass in Estonia. The masterclass is held in English, German, or French and takes place in two halves - in Tallinn and in Pärnu. Number of participants is limited!

The exhibition will bring the visitors from the year 1996 to today, showing the most interesting parts of festival’s history.
The exhibits include the best costumes from PromFest’s earlier opera productions, a virtual “time-machine” that takes the visitors back to meet Klaudia Taev, a woman whose inspiring work was a foundation for this festival, hands-on exhibits of decorations, stage make-up and other parts of theatre wonder, audio displays to give an idea about the strength of the operatic voice etc.

Broadcast of an opera in the cinema hall of the theatre. There are two PromFest productions that are shown this year: “Rigoletto” by G.Verdi (staged during PromFest 2003) and “Thais” by J.Massenet (staged during PromFest 2007).
This will be the first time the festivals productions are shown on a big screen.

Famous estonian bass Mati Palm performs on a intimate concert in the main hall of Art Nouveau style Ammende Villa in the heart of an idyllic oak garden in Pärnu. Most popular arias for basses are mixed with lesser known pearls from the operatic repertoire.

The ending concert of PromFest, which is also the final round for the 7th Klaudia Taev Competition.
There are 83 contestants from all around the world participating in the competition, from whom 30 were selected to take part from the competition in Pärnu and only 6 of them make it to the final round. The final round will be a gala concert where every singer performs two arias from different operas. The soloists are accompanied by orchestra, conducted by Erki Pehk.
