In June 1 - 5, 2009 - the 6th Klaudia Taev International Competition for Young Singers took place. The 33 participants came from 20 countries: Argentina, Armenia, Austria, Belarus, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, Serbia, South-Korea, Ukraine, USA and Estonia. 

As a part of the Competition the opera production of Thais by J. Massenet was staged in Theatre Endla with the best singers of the previous the 5th Klaudia Taev Competition Veronika Dzhioeva (Russia), Ilya Silchukov (Belarus) and Oliver Kuusik (Estonia) performing in main roles.
