Philip Bröking
was born in Wuppertal and began his theatre career in 1986 as co-founder of the TIC - Theater in Cronenberg. After stages at the Stadttheater Pforzheim (1988 - 1992), as chief departmental manager and director of the artistic management office of the Bühnen der Hansestadt Lübeck (1992 - 1997), as speaker of the general manager of the theatre and chief departmental manager, Philip Bröking came to Klaus Pierwoß at the Bremen Theatre. In his role as artistic manager, he was responsible, amongst others, for the planning of the cast of the music theatre, for the complete planning of the four sections of the house, for the guest performance programme and as well for special projects (amongst others »Die letzen Tage Der Menschheit « im U-Bootbunker Valentin, staged by Hans Kresnik in 1999, Millennium - Spektakel 1999/2000). 

In the 2004/05 season, Philip Bröking was initally engaged by the Komische Oper Berlin as Artistic Manager. Since the beginning of the 2005/06 season, Philip Bröking is Opera Director of the Komische Oper Berlin. Since 2008 he is teaching at the Hochschule für Musik »Hanns Eisler« Berlin and the Shanghai Theatre Academy.
